DUORO
Formed in Southern California, Duo Duoro is a flute and harp duo featuring harpist Kaitlin Miller and flutist Arin Sarkissian.
The ensemble aims to showcase their instrument pairing through adventurous programs of undiscovered soundscapes and diverse musical identities. Fusing “winds, strings, and percussion” together, the flute and harp offer a vast and unique combination of sound worlds unlike any other. Duo Duoro highlights pieces that bring out the versatility of this combination in addition to arrangements of chamber scores and orchestral reductions.
Duo Duoro was founded in 2022, originally coming together to perform unique arrangements of Armenian folk songs at the Music Academy summer festival in Santa Barbara. Ever since, Kaitlin and Arin have enjoyed presenting recitals throughout Southern California in both private and public venues. As recommended artists by the Beverly Hill National Auditions and the Consortium of Chamber Music Presenters of Southern California, the ensemble has been featured in Pasadena Presbyterian’s Music at Noon series, Newport Beach’s Sunday Musicales, St. Luke’s Garden Concerts, Casa Dorinda, and Music Academy recitals.
As the 1st Place Ensemble Winner of the 2024 Frances Walton Competition, Duo Duoro was invited on a Washington tour around Puget Sound curated by the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle. Performances included the Cascadia Art Museum, Crossroads Community Center, Kenmore’s Church of the Redeemer, and an hour-long feature on Classical KING-FM’s 98.1 Live Broadcast, one of the premier classical music stations in the U.S. Rooted in the vision of music education, the tour included over a dozen visits to regional schools, giving Duo Duoro the privilege of sharing their love for music with thousands of students of all ages across Washington.
Recently, Duo Duoro enjoyed a 2025 summer residency at Avaloch Farms in New Hampshire, an opportunity for Kaitlin and Arin to explore and organize future creative projects. Upcoming endeavours include a collaborative premiere alongside composer Yeonsuk Jung supported by the Barlow Commission Endowment, guest artist feature at Laguna Beach’s Laguna Live! in January 2026, and the publication of Duo Duoro’s very own arrangement of Maurice Ravel’s Ma mère l'Oye (Mother Goose Suite) for flute and harp.
Duo Duoro looks forward to working with emerging composers to explore undiscovered soundscapes, highlight diverse musical identities, and present innovative music through both formal and unconventional venues. Kaitlin and Arin love celebrating music of the past in a new lens while contributing to the richness of an ever-growing contemporary musical landscape. The two look forward to any and every opportunity to make music together!
